Hello TurboTax Team,
My late mother and I were both on a Joint Tennant account with WOS.
She passed in April 2023, and after submitting the required documents, she was removed from the account.
The financial institution (Ameriprise) has provided three separate 1099 forms for 2023 taxes.
Two of the forms are address to me with my TIN and one form is addressed to my late mother with her TIN.
Which 1099's should I include in my taxes?
Very Respectfully,
Alan Hun
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You should include both of the 1099s with your SSN on them. The one for your mother should go on her final tax return for 2023 if she is required to file one. If she is not then it doesn't need to go anywhere.
If your mother's income was below $13,850 for the portion of 2023 that she was alive then she is not required to file a return. You may still want to file for her if she was due a refund, however.
Sorry for your loss.
