Thank You Proud to have Serve
@cscrisson @I called the department of treasury and got the information from them. Since they were the interceptor for the child support enforcement in my situation. And I was giving the information
We got our letters last Friday saying they took his portion and then took mine. I have tried to contact IRS....no answer of course. Called Child Support and they tell me that I need to go to irs.gov and see what it tells me to do to get my portion back. I did that but there is nothing there. I want answers and I think that they should be able to give us the answer. They're not in contact with people.
My husband is a retired Combat Vet. We are in the same boat as all of you. I am going to not only contact all of the agencies you have listed I am also emailing my congressman and my Governor. We need to make the public officials aware of what is going on. This is not right. I have always been a person to bring an issue that is not being resolved straight to the top to get answers. I will also include a link to this thread in my emails to the powers that be can see I am not the only one being effected.
I am also going to be creating a Facebook group where we can share resources. I will post the link here when its up and running.
The same thing happened to me. I did as I always do, filed the injured spouse form with our 2019 taxes. Even though the IRS said to NOT file another one, all of our stimulus money was garnished for my husbands back child support. I don't care what anyone says about filing another one confusing the issue, I went ahead and filed another one with my local tax office. Since these offices are not even staffed now who knows how long it will take for me to get my money. And on top of that, they took ALL of my child's $500. How is it right for a 14 year old to be punished for his father's past due child support? It is all so infuriating.
I hope someone will wake up and help us. I find this completely unacceptable.
I went ahead and filed another one. I don't give a care if it confuses the IRS. REALLY???????? Like taking the money out of the mouths of an innocent child doesn't confuse things. GOD!
When is someone going to help us and do something about this?
YES! They took all of our child's $500. AND all of my money, which seems to be completely un believable!
@mtmberry03 As you can see not one Turbo tax rep has responded. They want you to pay for one of them to represent you where is the representation now🤷🏽♀️
When? Nobody is reporting anything and nobody is helping promote this ridiculous mistake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is completely unhelpful. The IRS did send us a letter, two to be exact, and all it says is to file the injured spouse form. WHICH WE HAVE ALREADY DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It takes them an unreasonably amount of time to process injured spouse claims. I usually don't get mine for another three months after my tax return was accepted. I have been doing this for 16 years.
I am right there with yall. We need to do something
@mtmberry03 Me too I wait over 3 months sometimes 🤦🏾♀️
