Still not able to import from my Merrill account. I've reverted to enter everything manually. Very frustrating!
do you have Merrill Edge or just regular Merrill?
I cannot import mine. Mine is NOT Edge.
It says “establishing secure connection” for a second and then nothing. No error message or anything.
Login works for Bank of America, but not for Merrill. I do not know if Merrill and Merrill Edge are different.
I am using Mac download.
I get to login, but it does not show Merrill logo atop, just says Merrill Edge.
I enter my credentials and submit. For a second or two, I get a status bar with the text “establishing secure connection” and then nothing nothing except a chirp/beep. There is no error message.
I tried changing my password. I tried everything.
This is so frustrating.
If you're using TurboTax Online, download a PDF of your 1099's. You can attach a PDF of your 1099-B's to your return, and make a one-line entry of totals for 1099-INT/DIV.
In TurboTax Desktop, download a PDF of your 1099's, make a one-line entry for 1099-INT/DIV totals, then use Sales Summary Totals to make a one-line entry for each category of 1099-B transactions.
Here's How to Enter a Summary in Lieu of Individual Transactions.
Importing issues are usually due to anti-virus programs (including modem). Here's How to Turn Off Anti-Virus Programs.
Still unable to import 1099 info from Merrill into TT desktop on a Mac. Any successful workaround/repair for this problem?
No, I think most of us gave up, entered it manually and are looking for alternatives to Turbo Tax next year.
I still can't download to TT desktop from Merrill Lynch, even after a very kind troubleshooting person from ML went through every possible fix with me. TT worked fine with other financial institutions, including Bank of America (which owns ML). So it must be an unsolved ML problem.
So, I could not connect to ML from either the TT Desktop version or the TT Online version (last year or this year). I'd called TT/ML support several times and got all the same general troubleshooting answers. I even had our ML financial advisor working on it from their end.
2 days ago, our FA reached out and they were able to confirm that this was an ML issue that was created when they did some back end changes some time ago. The ML tech ended up creating me a whole new login from the back end giving it the permissions needed to connect TT. I tried it yesterday on the Desktop version and I now have all my ML tax info imported. I'd call ML or your FA back and have them specifically get with back end tech support (not account support). Let them know this is a confirmed issue on the ML side.
Good luck!
Did it work on Windows desktop or Mac desktop? The Mac desktop version is the one people cannot solve. The Windows version seems to work if people create a new log in.
I am still having no luck with Mac and cannot find anyone who has.
PC, but I created a new account/login before they found they solution and even the new login wouldn't work. For me, it wouldn't work from the desktop version or the online version (which would isolate the OS completely). Have you tried importing from the online version to make sure it's not an account issue?
It’s a Mac version issue that TT needs to resolve. I even had ML issue a special access for a tax professional but no go. I am not saying that people are not having issues with the other versions but only the Mac version appears to have had no successes or workarounds.
Do you have to pay for online version if you paid for desktop?
I created a free online TT account just to test and see if it would connect. When it wouldn't I knew it had nothing to do with PC/Windows. That was my confirmation that there was an issue with my actual account.
My ML peeps just informed me they contacted TT and the issue was resolved around 10:30 PM EST. Good Luck all..
Well they're making progress, at least now after entering your credentials you finally get a response...the response is to try again later, so very little progress made.
For me, EXACTLY SAME as Kansas stated above:
Well they're making progress, at least now after entering your credentials you finally get a response...the response is to try again later, so very little progress made.
Prior to today, I was receiving no error message at all on Mac version.
Starting today, I receive a pop-up saying to try again later.
I still do not know if I have to find an alternative tax service and we are close to the wire of clients being accepted without premiums.
