How do I file? USC living in the US, married to a Canadian spouse, living abroad.

I am a USC and married my Canadian husband in September. He does not live here and does not work or collect money in the US. I petitioned a I-130 for his sponorship to immigrate here. I plan to file my taxes as MFS and listing his info but he does not have a SSN or ITIN. I was told to put "NRA". Can I file this year's taxes online or must this be done and mailed in? Eventually this year we will fill out paperwork to obtain his ITIN but for filing purposes, but I just need to know for this coming season as it takes 7-11 weeks to obtain an ITIN.

TIA!!

Entering NRA for the Social Security number of your spouse would require you to print and mail the tax return, it cannot be e-filed.
