Hey, I keep getting an alert to check Form 8965- health coverage exemption. The Reference code is 5-477-438 does anyone know what that's about?

In tax year 2019, the health care coverage penalty no longer exists. If you have an exemption, it is no longer required to be reported. Review the healthcare questions again carefully. Form 8965 is no longer required. If revisiting the questions does not remove the error, try the following steps:

1. On the menu on the left, choose Tax Tools
2. Click Tools
3. Click on Delete a Form
4. Scroll through the forms on your return and locate Form 8965
5. Click Delete

I am having a similar issue when trying to finish my amended 2018 tax return. I tried deleting the form, however the error still occurs only it gets a different reference code.

Please review the health care questions in order to remove the error or delete the Form 8965 in TurboTax for 2019 and 2018.

For 2019, there is no longer a requirement for the health care exemption.  You may delete the form in 2019 under Tools. 

1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
2. In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools.
3. In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
4. Select Delete next to the Form 8965 in the list and follow the instructions.

It may be necessary to first review the health care questions in order to remove the error for year 2018

Purpose of Form 8965 for the year 2018

If you have coverage through your employer, buy insurance through a Marketplace or use private insurance for the entire year, you do not need to file Form 8965. You also don't need to file Form 8965 if you aren't required to file a tax return because your income is too low.
