Review the state tax payment Direct Debit information on the State Information Worksheet for payment and banking information. If you still don't see the debit 7–10 days after your return has been accepted, contact your state tax agency.

 

If you need to pay it, find out if your state has an online option and pay it that way before the tax deadline.

Same question here for my State. 

When I checked the State Info Worksheet, it shows that the pay date is the final filing filing date of this tax year.  This is in spite of setting the pay date for the Federal IRS to a week after my initial electronic filing.

The final pay date before applying interest is the last filing date of the tax season.  It is usually shown that way on the internal transcripts.  Your payment is usually the date you have selected but for processing purposes if it is before the deadline no penalties are asserted and that date is used in processing.  Now states may have different rules regarding payment dates so if you provide the state you are talking about we will see if it is different for that state.

The State is NJ.

I selected 02/17 as my pay date and the IRS did make the withdrawal on that date.

As I finished the State taxes for e-filing, TTax22 asked me to verify the routing number and account number, but I don't recall seeing an option to select a different pay date from that of the IRS.

Once the federal is accepted, the state works on the return. The pay date you select, just means from this date forward to the agencies. Each state has their own processing time and even different due dates for payment. As long as your bank information is there and the date is current or past, they can take the payment due. 

 

As long as you see your bank information in the state return, you should be fine. If the deadline for state payment is approaching:

  1. confirm banking information on your return.
  2. Call NJ at 609-292-6400, to determine your payment status
  3. use ePay if debit will not be made.
