I have been trying to get a straight forward answer. I don't need a cut and paste answer. I am an uber driver I get Self Employed Online for free and want to upgrade to live CPA. The Federal Available forms lists specifically says 982 is now available ONLINE. Additionally, I received an email from Turbotax that says this:
The tax forms we needed to finish up your taxes are ready to go.
We’re ready to walk you through:
So everywhere is showing this is now online. These are all for credit card debt, I'm very badly in debt I could just send them my credit report and they'd see how insolvent I am.
The problem is it allows me to enter the 1099-C's but does not take me to the 982 like the website says it now should.
To clarify. I do NOT want to download a manual version and have to pay for it when I get Self Employed free due to working for Uber. I WANT to pay to use the live CPA to help me with this form. So since I received this email saying I can do this online and can see clearly on the online documentation specifically 982 is available ONLINE, how do I access it so I can select I'm insolvent. Part II doesnt apply it's literally just that one check box! I do not want to have to mail in a manual return for something that I'm being told should be online.
That's outright false advertising.

Yes, you can use TurboTax Live with the Online Self Employed product.
Click the link with instructions on How to Get TurboTax Live.
You will need to use the CD/download version of TurboTax in order to generate Form 982 for insolvency. TurboTax Online can only be used to generate Form 982 for canceled debt related to qualified principal residence indebtedness.
The IRS has strict guidelines for determining how to report insolvency on Form 982 and includes several options specific to each taxpayer’s situation. To determine which applies to you, we recommend you consult a tax professional or see IRS Publication 4681 or Publication 544.
