I made very little money last year (roughly $17,000) as I was a full-time student. Despite this, TurboTax is trying to force me to buy DIY Deluxe because, according to them, I need to file form 8959. This is obviously nonsense, as the income threshold required for me to file this form is $200,000. I've checked box 5 over and over again on both of my W-2s and all of my numbers are correct. I'm extremely frustrated and confused. Is anyone else dealing with this?

Are you sure you did not leave out a decimal point in one of the box 5 entries?
Could there possibly be another W-2 that somehow was entered into TurboTax? Check the W-2 summary.
Try deleting all the W-2s and entering them again. Enter them manually, not by importing or taking a picture.
Did you enter any unreported tips?
Did you have any self-employment income?
Did you enter any income from a Form 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC, or any income for which you did not receive any form at all?
Same issue here. All of the information in Box 5 and Box 6 is correct. This is either a glitch or an unethical way to trick people into upgrading unnecessarily.
Requiring Form 8959 when your income is below the threshold is an error in TurboTax. TurboTax is aware of the problem and they are working on fixing it. There is no timetable for when it will be fixed.
Great! Will we be receiving refunds for the forced purchase due to this error? This happened to me too, and there was no way to proceed with filing unless the 138.24 was paid. This is a scam and highly unethical, as I did not need this form done, due to not even coming close to the $200,000 threshold. How can I go about getting a refund? Thanks!
Call TurboTax customer service to ask about a refund. If you are asked the reason for your call, do not use the word "refund" unless you are talking to a live person. Say that you are calling about a billing error.
