Filing Jointly

My Fiance and I will be getting married this October 2019. Are we allowed to file this years taxes jointly since we will be married at the end of the year or do we have to wait until 2020 to start filing taxes?

Filing Jointly

your marital status on 12/31/XX is the only thing that matters

Filing Jointly

Yes, as NCperson states, your marital status on the last day of the tax year applies for the entire year (even if you get married on December 30th).  Congratulations!

Filing Jointly

Hi,
If I am understanding your question correctly you are asking if you can file jointly during this current tax season and you are getting married Oct 2019? If that is your question then no you can't file married or jointly because you're filing for 2018 this season and you weren't married in 2018 ...you will file for 2019 next tax season in 2020 in which you can file jointly...hope this helps...congrats on your marriage and Best wishes!!!
