RE: Filing Extension Error

Hi,

I'm trying to file an extension for 2019 income tax return, but it keeps on saying

"Unfortunately, the deadline for filing an extension has passed"

Any idea why this is happening? Surely, the deadline to file an extension is April 15, 2020. Thank you.

RE: Filing Extension Error

Yes, leave them blank.  To add:  when you are due a refund, there is no penalty for filing a late return.

RE: Filing Extension Error

The Extension form (4868) is not yet ready for e-filing.  It does state in the forms availability forms that right now it is available to print in the program.  TurboTax Easy Tax Extension should be available in a day or so.

What do you mean not yet?

RE: Filing Extension Error

Its means that the extension form to e-file is not yet available, see links in my original answer.  You can print the form out in the program & mail it in.

RE: Filing Extension Error

hmm I see. Thank you. If I'm only expected to get a refund and not pay any additional tax, do I leave line 4 and 5 on form 4868 '0'?
