Files disappeared

After installing Turbo Tax 2025 desktop version, all of my files from 2023 and 2024 disappeared. I tried to transfer information from my 2024 return and the file is gone. I filed electronically from this computer last year so I know the file was here previously.

If you have Windows OneDrive, check there.

As I recall the default for that is to move them off your computer if not accessed for 30days.

(I set mine to always keep a copy on my computer in addition to the OneDrive backup).

My installation of  desktop 2025 Premier last week didn't touch anything for 2023 or 2024 files already there.....even those files I haven't used in several months

I’m using a MacBook.  ‘I’ve looked at my entire hard drive. It looks like the files are gone.

That's unfortuate....also why many of us keep stressing to folks to backup all their files on an off-computer USB-Flashdrive.

Still, your situation seems to be quite rare....even for MAC folks.  I seem to recall only a very few instances of MAC folks having old files disappear.  IF it was endemic, this forum would be screaming with hundreds posts complaining.

I saw one post where they found them in their recycle bin...which didn't show up in their normal search.

There are several posts here and on other internet sites with the same issue.  I’ve used Turbo Tax for over 10 years and this is the first time that it’s happened to me.  Unfortunately, they were not in the Recycle Bin.  Thankfully, I have a printed copy of my returns.
