Yes, you need to select the dependent income and enter 0.00 if your dependents did not have any income or will not be filing a tax return. This is item 2b on the 8962. It can not be blank, you must enter 0.00 if you listed dependents. Just saw that you just need to trick the TT system into entering a 0.00 so that it isn't blank.
Yesterday my tax return was rejected for same reason as in the topic of this post. Thanks to this forum I redone my 1095-A and entered "0" in 2b on 8962 and it was accepted within 20 minutes. Although I have 2 small dependants and they do not file separately I "ticked" it and entered "0" what transferred to 8962 in 2b as "0" and it is correct as my dependants do not have any income and when I rechecked my return later before filing this question was "un-ticked" but left "0" in 2b row.
Where do I put in the 0.00 on the dependent income? My dependent is 2 months old.
Do u see where it ask do your dependent file a separate return check that box and than it should ask u what was they agi put 0
Hello there...after 2 rejections (02/18/20 and 02-20-20) from the irs with the same issue. I finally figured it out, but i waited for at least today (02/21/20) for the TT promised update, only to find out that there were not updates/changes at all. So here's what i did, which TT support can't even figure it out.
1. If you already updated your Turbo Tax before Feb. 20 or later, forget the updating process, it's no use!
2. Open your rejected Tax Return.
3. Switch to Forms
4. Select Form 8962
5. Enter 0 on PartI 2b (dependent modified AGI) in my case it's "0" because my dependent has no income}
6. Save your Returns and complete the re-transmission.
I re-transmitted mine at !:54 today (2-21-20) (Central Time) and in less than 30 mins, it was accepted.
"Hey TT please do your job efficiently, in solving this issue"
I have done everything under the sun. I even deleted for 1095-A and filled it out again, but I'm afraid to send it in because when I get to that point it wants me to fix my return. It isn't giving me new questions to answer. How much longer should I wait?
Thereās not a ānew interview questionā. I did the exact same thing. I went in. Deleted the form completely. Re-entered all the information. The. re-filed. And my return was accepted.
I had to edit 8962 2b to 0.00
Hi!
Do what I did and it worked easily. Look what I posted @ revseven.
Hello there.
You can try what I did. It worked easily.
Read the steps I posted at user "revseven" Good luck!
don't see where you find "forms" to change this manually ?????
I use the online version, there is no ability to alter the forms.
I clicked "fix my return", there were no new questions, it went straight to refile. My refiled return was accepted 30 minutes later. I checked the forms (you can print but not edit the forms), I couldn't see any changes. But I have around 30 pages, so I didn't carefully check them all. I did check form 8962 carefully, no changes. Line 2B remains blank, and it was blank last year.
When I was first rejected and tried the "fix my return" button, I wasn't asked any questions and couldn't see any changes. So I phoned support (this was Feb 20). The support person had no idea there was a TurboTax problem and insisted I must have mis-entered data. She wanted me to delete the form and re-enter the information. I balked and got to a supervisor. The supervisor didn't know much more but thought the fix would be available soon. I waited until today (Feb 22) and clicked "Fix my return" again, as described above.
Just click the "forms" icon on the upper right corner of your turbo tax. It will switch to form and you can select form 8962
Hi!
I am also using the online version. On your Turbo Tax, after opening your rejected returns, You can
click the form icon on the upper right hand corner, it will switch to forms and appear on the left side.
Select the form 8962. From there you can edit the Line2B which is blank. Put the right amount for your
Dependent AGI. In my case it is 0, because my dependent has no income at all. Good luck!
The ONLINE version has no FORMS mode ... only the Downloaded/CD versions have that function.
