E-file rejected due to ForeignTaxCreditSource/USTaxWithheldOnDividendAmt

Was having same issue (filing rejected).  Changing date from "various" to "12/31/20" worked for me as well in solving the problem (Filing now accepted)

Keeping my fingers crossed on the 4th submission, but the previous three rejections have all come back in 10 minutes, so i guess maybe the previous three were  Turbo Tax rejections on the "various" date issue rather than an IRS rejection.

At this point i am so tired that i am not sure whether i have re-elected the simplied method or not, after having elected it in prior years for the carryover.  What happens if i have inadvertently switched?

Go back to the 1116 form interview section and DO NOT use the simplified method.

That should solve the Can't EFile problem it did for me.      I was able to EFile after

making that change but the filing was rejected for another 1116 related problem.

There are e-file issues with the Form 1116 in general including the Form 1099-DIV and AMT.  Please sign up for notification here: Form 1116 reject error

Big thanks to the community. Changing the date from "Various" to 12/31/20 fixed the error. Interesting enough, "Various" worked OK in the past with e-file. And it has always worked with paper returns ;). Intuit may want to remove the option to choose "Various" if IRS no longer approves it.

Turbo Tax has inserted a line 1099 Taxes in the date line for Country B and Country C and I cannot change them. It baffles me since this is the foreign currency section which I should not have to fill out at all.

I'm using TT Online. My solution was to delete my 1116 using these instructions, then request the 1116  interview again: 

- Federal / Deductions and Credits / Estimates and Other Taxes Paid / Foreign Tax Credit / Revisit.

Changing the date from "Various" to "12/31/20" I believe fixed my error also. Turbotax should NOT ALLOW "various" in this particular date field!!

I need the form 1116 foreign tax credit to finish my taxes.  That is not yet available (but should be on 3/3).  Last year, I needed to use the date "Various" to make that form work.  I suspect that a similar issue is giving you trouble but I won't know until the Form 1116 is ready.

It depends> If you are using the disk, try checking for updates. Go to online>check for updates. Also check online>Updater preferences. Make sure the automatically install update tab is selected.
