If you did not go to the Marketplace for Health Insurance, you will not have a 1095-A.

It is possible that a question was not answered correctly.

Go back through your Step by Step

Federal Taxes tab

Deductions and Credits tab

I'll choose what to work on

Scroll down to Medical

Look for last segment " Affordable Care Act" (Form 1095-A)

Answer the question:

Did you received Form1095-A for your health insurance plan?

Answer NO.

Good luck!

If, after re-answering the 1095-A question does not solve the issue, delete the 1095-A form and the TurboTax generated Form 8962, Premium Tax Credit.

  • If you're using TurboTax Online software and need to delete a form, click here.
  • If you're using TurboTax CD\Download software and need to delete a form, click here
  • If you received form 1095-B or 1095-C, those forms don't need to be entered in TurboTax. Those are informational forms.

Additional information: If you purchased health insurance through Healthcare.gov or your state's health insurance marketplace, you receive a form 1095-A. It's required to calculate the Premium Tax Credit

You qualify for the Premium Tax Credit if:

  • Your health insurance plan is purchased through Healthcare.gov or a state Marketplace
  • Your household income falls between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level for your household size
  • You don't file as Married Filing Separately (with exceptions for victims of domestic abuse and spousal abandonment)
  • You can't be claimed as a dependent by another person
