I have only ever made a single installation!
Still no solution. This is pathetic. I pay honest money for a product and expect honest support.
I am interested I am experiencing the same issue!
I am experiencing thee same issue, TT H&B 2022 was activated and working fine for 4 months suddenly after an update 2 days ago asking for a license code and will not accept the code entered 4 months ago????? additionally customer service rather than help me resolve the issue tried hard to sell me another H&B for $130. Truly Pathetic company
Make sure your computer is the same way when you originally installed it. Like with no flash drives plugged in or plugged in if one was. It asked me to activate again so I just closed the program and took out a flash drive that was plugged in and tried again. It worked. Or you may need to connect a flash drive or printer or something that was connected when you originally installed the program. One person found to disable his virus scanner and firewall first and then it opened.
No changes within the computer since installation and activation of the program in January, tried turning off the virus protection with no luck. Thanks
Clearly Intuit is using a bad algorithm for authenticating an installation. There is a simple solution. (Are
you listening Intuit?) Every installation can be authenticated by the unique pair of:
1. The computer hardware MAC address.
2. The activation code.
By including an encrypted activation code on each CD, and recording the MAC address-activation code
pair on an Intuit authentication server on first use, every installation can be authenticated without error
every time TurboTax is opened.
This is my last post on this subject. Next year I will be using HR Block's tax prep software.
I have the SAME LICENSE ACTIVATION ERROR trying to open up my 2021 tax file as others have reported.
My sin? installing an additional SSD to my computer recently!
Yes, you got that right. adding an additional hard drive makes TurboTax thinks that I am running the copy on a new computer. What a genius algorithm!
I had to go through all the trouble of backing things up so I can physically remove the installed SSD drive.
TurboTax 2021 started up successfully as soon as the drive is removed!
Very disappointed with Intuit but hey, at least I am able to open and read my last year's tax. :(
Intuit is breaking an implicit contract with its customers that their software should continue to work over time. Otherwise their product is useless. But Intuit's product does not continue to work over time on the same hardware on which it was installed. There are countless examples of this. Intuit has failed to address the issue even though they are aware of it. Intuit should be subject to a class action suit where the "class" is all those who have purchased and installed their product. That's a very large "class" constituting huge dollars if you multiply customers who bought the broken product times the average purchase price. One of you attorneys out there should jump on this.
Hi there,
I purchased the 2022 -2023 Turbo Premium Tax CD version earlier this year. And downloaded the 2022 version online and activate my account in April. Due to missing information I could not file the tax by 4/17 so ended up with an extension. But when I opened the 2022 Turbo tax again from my iMac, the software asked to get updated and once I did that, it asked me to enter license code to activate the account. How can you help to solve the problem. I don't believe I need to buy it again.
The license code you got when purchased your 2022 Turbo Tax should work. I've had to reactivate several times and the original code worked without issues - yes it is a pain in the neck but your license code should work. If it doesn't work or you lost the your code, you'll need to contact turbo tax for help.
This has been going on for over two years. The solutions being offered are ludicrous. Intuit just needs to fix their program code. I've finally just resolved to soldier on and if I run out of authorization codes, that will be a sign to switch to H&R Block. Sadly, it's pretty clear that Intuit just doesn't care about their customers.
Hi dm2,
Can you share your solution? am having the same issue with 2023 version and no agent has been able to help.
Thanks!
