My landlord didn’t provide me with a CRP in Minnesota, but I have an RPA form.
The instructions say that if I qualify, I need to file Form M1 (Individual Income Tax Return) and include Form M1RENT (Renter's Credit) to claim my credit.
If I’m filing Form M1:
- Electronically: I must attach proof of my rent payments with my return through my tax software. If my software doesn’t allow attachments, I need to either use different software or file Form M1 by mail.
- By Mail: I need to include the proof of payment with my return.
I’m filing my taxes through TurboTax, and I found an option to upload the proof of payment under Documents → Upload Files. However, the note says, "Keep in mind that the info on your uploaded documents will not be added to your tax return."
Does this mean that my uploaded proofs of payment won’t be attached to my tax return through TurboTax, or is this sufficient for submitting the required documentation?
