I am having problems adding additional members/partners to my 2021 turbotax return using the turbotax business CD version. I reached the point where I add the partner/member information. I have imported the business information from my 2020. Turbotax asks me to add member information, and I enter the first managing member, adjust the ownership amount to the amount the manager has and complete their entry. When I go to add the next member, Turbotax asks me if there has been a change in ownership. I click no, as there has not been a change in membership, but turbotax will not let me add the second and third member/partner. Previos version red in the member partner info from the previous year. Is there a way to add the additional member/partners without declaring a change in ownership? Thanks

Have you checked your previous (2020) 1065 and K-1s?
There have been issues where prior returns did not transfer correctly due to a member being deleted or a K-1 being marked as final.
Also, there is a change if you are adding (or subtracting) partners or members.
Thanks So Much for the reply. I checked my 2020, and 2010, and it appears that the 2020's are marked final, while there are no marks on the 2019's! Not sure why or how that happened. Is there a way to fix that in the 2021 turbotax or do I need to file an amended return?
Thanks for your help!
I do not believe it is possible to fix the return in 2021 without fixing the 2020 return and then transferring the rectified 2020 return into your 2021 return (that should absolutely resolve the issue).
However, it is unclear whether the 2020 return was transmitted with the erroneous information (K-1 marked final) or if that occurred after filing with a subsequent update or other, post-filing, anomaly. Regardless, if it is only the K-1s, then there should not really be a huge issue unless the members/partners entered them as final in the personal tax returns.
Thanks for your help,
I will try revising the 2020! Gotta love doing taxes twice!

Ronnie P.
