I have a 1099 no w2 what should I do

A 1099-Misc?  or a 1099-R?

To enter/edit/add 1099-MISC (self-employed income):

1. Open your return (or continue if open).

2. Type “1099misc” (lower-case works too) in Search box (upper right-hand corner of the screen)

3. Click on “Jump to 1099misc” link.

4. Answer screen interview prompts

To enter/edit 1099-R (Distributions From Pensions, Annuities, Retirement or Profit-Sharing Plans, IRAs, Insurance Contracts, etc.):

1. Open your return (or continue if open).

2. Type “1099-R or 1099R” (lower-case works too) in Search box (upper right-hand corner of the screen)

3. Click on “Jump to 1099R” link.

4. Answer “Yes” on the “1099-R screen,” then Click “Continue”.  (You can Click on “Add another 1099-R” if you land on 1099-R Entries screen instead.)

5. Select how you want to enter your 1099-R (import or manually), and then follow the onscreen instructions.
