Plan to install TurboTax from CD on new computer for years 2015 through 2023. How do I get form updates for older versions?

I got a new computer. I plan to remove TurboTax from the old computer and install it from CD on new computer for years 2015 through 2023. I bought the CDs directly from Intuit. How do I get form updates for older versions such as 2015? I assume I would need those if I had to amend tax returns filed for previous years. I have TurboTax Advantage Deluxe for 2023 and before.

Sorry you can only update the last 3 years.  You can only amend the last  3 years.  You shouldn't need the  older programs installed.  Hopefully you saved each year as a pdf file.

What I would do on the old computer, is copy the whole Turbo Tax folder that is under your Documents. That should be where the .tax files and pdf files are stored. Also if you haven't done it, I would open each year in the program and save it as a pdf file, go to FILE - SAVE TO PDF so you don't need the program installed to view your return. Copy that folder to a flash drive or best yet is to burn it to a CD or DVD and then you will have a backup of them. Then on the new computer copy the folder (or files) from the flash drive to your Documents folder.

You only need the tax return data file ending in .tax2021 to transfer into 2022. You don't need to install older programs unless you need to amend or you didn't save the pdf file.

if you install 2015-2018 and then open the .tax file for any of those years, you will change the results because updates are no longer available. you can exit without saving to preserve the file as it was.  if you need pdf's yo could use a service like Taxprinter but note the fee.  however by filing form 4506 with the iRS you should be able to get copies of 2015-2018

Thank you. Useful. If I need to amend older years I will have to do it on the old computer. In theory I should have been able to update 2019 on the new computer but TT insisted I pay for MA again. 2020-2022 worked. I really think Intuit should provide a much easier and more reliable way to move an older version with updates and data from one computer to another.

Turbo Tax only supports updates to the software for 3 years. This is due to the ever-changing tax laws, and how things would apply.
