No CDs for 2024. OK. So, what happens when my computer crashes four years from now. (this is the average tijme it takes for a computer of mine to bite the dust.) According to all of the above, I will no longer be able to download the software from TurboTax (because it will be past the three year support window.)
So, how will I be able to generate my 2024 tax filing if either the Federal or State Government should demand 2024 tax documents, etc.? With a CD I can re-install the software and re-print the return. I can do this indefinitely. It appears that with the download, I will no longer have this option should the need arise.

You can buy an install CD for 2024 for $10 after you buy the download and a License Code
https://turbotax.intuit.com/lp/ttd/4021
You can burn the installation file to a CD or save to a usb flash drive. My Windows Download program is listed under Downloads and is named Windows_PC_TurboTax_Downloads.exe
Since you now have to log into an Intuit Account when you first install it, all your downloads and licenses are listed there (even if you bought it from somewhere else) so if you need to install it again or install on another computer, even on the other operating system (Windows, Mac) you can download it again.
But even if you have the CDs you won’t be able to install or reinstall or activate 2020 or prior. They only support the last 3 years. And the License Code started in 2019. So 2019 and 2020 needs to connect to Turbo Tax to verify the License Code. But they only support the last 3 years. So you can’t install and activate 2020 and prior (then add a year going forward).
And if you do get 2018 and prior installed you won’t be able to update it or download any state programs. So you should save all your returns to a pdf file with all the worksheets. Open each year and save them now if you haven’t already.
Thank you for the link. That's exactly what I was looking for!
