after submitting my paperwork through Turbo Tax, I realized that I never got a 1099-R for the portion of my husband's (small, from a former employer) pension that I receive since he passed away in 2020. Went back to last year's (2020) return and found that the 1099-R only reflected the payments received when my husband was alive. My 2020 tax return was reviewed and approved. So, did I mess up? BTW, I am still in the process of a trying to get my return accepted, and it has come back for fixing numerous times, so I don't think anything is set in stone yet. If this is a problem, is there a way to get into the file and correct it before submitting it again (assuming it will need "fixing" again)? Thank you for your response.

If your return has not been accepted by the IRS yet, you would be able to add the additional information that you should receive about your husband's pension.
The administrator that issued the 1099-R that you received for your husband in 2020 needs to be contacted to get the Form 1099-R that you need for your taxes. Contact them directly if possible, or through your husband's employer.
If your return has been accepted by the IRS, you can amend your return when you have the 1099-R. An amended return, Form 1040-X, doesn't have to be sent to the IRS by April 18. You have three years to send in the amended return. The amended return can be ef-filed.
We are sorry for the loss of your husband.
