I did my taxes and it says IRS will accept my efile on Jan 6th but still says pending

Even though you can submit your efile to Turbo Tax they will just hold it until the IRS opens on Jan 27. Then allow several days to get back the Accepted or Rejected email.

The IRS will not be accepting any 2019 tax returns until January 27, 2020. Your tax return will be in a Pending state until the IRS either accepts or rejects the tax return.

The email you received was from TurboTax acknowledging the transmission of the e-filed tax return. You will receive another email when the IRS either accepts or rejects the tax return.

My state tax still says pending. Does this mean they dont have it or what

Pending simply means that your e-filed return is on its way and that the government hasn't accepted or rejected it yet.
