Paying quarterly taxes

Hello,

I just got a new job which is 1099 (started a month ago), my husband is W2. I went to a tax person and she walked me through how to pay to the IRS estimated taxes, my question is my husband and I file married filing jointly and when setting up the account/wanting to pay it asked for the primary tax payers information so I put his in. It then said "signed in as (his name)" Is this a problem? I am the one paying the estimated tax and want to make sure if I am over or under paying that it is connected to me and my tax payments not his. Thanks!

If you are filing jointly, it will not matter. Your income is combined and your tax withholdings are combined, so it really does not get connected to an individual.  If his name is first on your Form 1040, than he is considered the primary taxpayer. You can try to go on and edit your account.

A joint tax return (Married Filing Jointly filing) is a single tax return filed by a married couple on which they report their combined income , credits , exemptions and deductions.
