Paper tax returns

I had to file a paper return because I kept getting rejected due to someone was using my social on their taxes. I also haven't received a date for my stimulus package yet. How long does it take for irs to receive and fo over your tax return??

the IRS is not processing paper returns at this time. so if your due a refund dont expect it any time soon.  if you filed in 2018 and had direct deposit info on it the IRS will use that.  otherwise it will send you a check based on address on 2018 return. you can check status at the follwing website but not everyone has had their info included at this time.

Are you sure someone else filed a return using your SSN or did you use the non filer portal to register for the stimulus payment. If you used the non filer portal, you actually efiled a return with 0 income on it for yourself.  Filers were not supposed to use the non filer portal.

If that is what happened, you should have filed an amended return form 1040X or written "Amended Return" across the top of the "real" return you mailed before you mailed it. 

The IRS was not  processing mailed returns for awhile although it is reported that then may have started back up earlier this week. In normal times it takes 16 weeks for an amended return to be processed.
