Why am I getting charged $25 for state tax? I thought this was included w/software I bought? Also, why is my state return refund having $21 dollars subtracted?

E-filing fee in desktop software
Did you purchase desktop software with state software included? They sell Deluxe both with and without state software--so you have to be careful which one you choose. And even if it does have the state software download included, that is for preparing the state. There is an extra fee to e-file the state. You can avoid the state e-file fee if you print and mail the state instead of e-filing it.
Your state will be sending you a letter about the $21 refund adjustment. They do not notify TT. Could you have made a data entry error?

You get a phone number in the FAQ below...and indicate you have a "Billing Issue" do not use the term "refund" until you get an agent on the phone....but that will be up to them to decide:

I efiled tonite and was overcharged for the filing. You offer three options and I selected the second. When I filed, you charged me for all three options. Please remove the extra charge ASAP ($44.00)

No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue. If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help. Do not use the word “refund.”

The fee for CA state filing was $20.00 with a rebate of $10.00 for purchasing thereby my cost would be &10.00. I requested help since I was having difficulty with the site taking my credit card. The person helping me took my card # & charged it for $20.00 & then disconnected the call without finishing the process. I called back & got a different person who assured me that the card would not be charged since the transaction wasn't completed. She then completed the transaction & charged the card the $10. fee. My bank statement shows a $20.00 & a $10.00 fee. I cannot get anyone at Turbo tax to tell me how to get the $20.00 overcharge reversed. I have contacted my bank to dispute it. The customer service here is terrible & dealing with the automated phone service is pure torture.
