Online surveys - Is this self-employment income or miscellaneous income?
I started doing online surveys about halfway through the year, and ended up making ~112 dollars by the end of the year. I do not have a 1099 form from the company as I did not make $600. I did a few surveys a week when they were available, and often went weeks without doing any surveys at all. This is not my main source of income, I am employed full time at a company where I recieved my W2. Does my survey income make me self-employed, or can I just put that $112 down as miscellaneous income?

Online surveys - Is this self-employment income or miscellaneous income?
Technically, if you are doing the surveys to earn money, then you have a 'profit motive' and it is self-employment income. Self-employment income should be reported on Schedule C and the related self-employment taxes paid on it.
However, if taking surveys is something you like to do for fun or enjoyment and you receive money for taking them, the income can be classified as Hobby Income, which gets reported as Miscellaneous Income on your 1040.
