Old .tax files

I have old turbo tax files on my computer. I didn't know to sae PDF version, so I only have the .tax documents. I no longer have the desktop software, although I bought it each year. How can I open the files?

If you do not have the tax software, then you will not be able to open the returns. There is a service--not affiliated with TurboTax-- that can open and print returns from tax files. We do not know their fees. Taxprinter.com

TurboTax supports the current and the 3 prior years. After that, even if you have the app installed on your desktop, you'll not be able to open those returns. Always save a PDF each year once filling is complete.
