I used desktop and my Federal and State returns were accepted but the OH school district was rejected. Not sure what the problem is as stated in the email rejection I have checked the information listed and it is all correct based on the information provided on my 1099-R forms which are used for both Fed and State returns. How do I get in touch with a live person to get this fixed?

Ditto...I checked and got an "All is well" from the software. BUT...when I checked the data there was one key thing that was wrong...AND it was WRONG last year as well but was not rejected. The Box 15 on my 1099R has a 9 digit code for the State payer ID. It is 9 digits long on my federal but when it was carried over to the state it dropped the last digit and I cannot correct it. It did the same thing on last year's return when I checked but I never received a rejection notice.
False alarm...after reading every word on these forms I discovered that OH requires only the first EIGHT of nine digits on the FEIN on the IT 1040 worksheet. So that was not an issue. I'm on my third rejection after tweaking things on the SD return...running out of ideas. Will try to talk to someone next.
Ok so this appears to be related to a duplicate condition.
On one or more of your 1099R forms, you claimed state income tax withholding but did not provide the state abbreviation, the Payer's Federal EIN, the Payer's state ID number and/or the distribution amount. Please correct and retransmit.
Look at your entries here and resubmit. Let me know if this solves the issue.
I have an answer for this.
In most cases, the Federal and Ohio returns have been accepted. What is being rejected is the School District Return if you had withholdings. If you had School District Withholdings, the School District Return can't be efiled.
If your Ohio return was accepted and the only reject you have is the School District Return, you will need to print and mail the School District Return.
Just wondering where you get your information to state "If you had School District Withholdings, the School District Return can't be efiled." I've efiled School District tax for years and found nothing saying anything has changed this year. software.
Where did that screenshot come from?
I have the same problem stating, "On one or more of your 1099R forms, you claimed state income tax withholding but did not provide the state abbreviation, the Payer's Federal EIN, the Payer's state ID number and/or the distribution amount." I've double, and triple-checked my entries and I haven't missed anything but my SD efile has been rejected twice now. I've spent way too much time trying to figure out what's wrong. I think there's obliviously something wrong with this year's TurboxTax software.
We have seen successful transmissions when making the following corrections:
The state information shown in boxes 14 through 16 of Form 1099-R need to all have a value in them if there are any state taxes withheld. If your Form 1099-R does not show a state ID number, enter the Federal ID number. If your Form 1099-R does not show a state distribution (box 16), enter the distribution amount shown in box 1. Do not enter zero for the distribution amount if state taxes were withheld. Also, if there were no state taxes withheld, do not enter a zero in that box. Instead leave it blank without even a zero.
Did you ever get this resolved? I'm having the exact problem and everything I find says that I can efile my SD tax, but I've gotten rejected twice.
Yes, this has been resolved. See my message above.
On my form 1099-R, box 15 has a dollar amount for State Tax Withheld, and the State ID and State No. are listed, but 16 is blank. So wouldn't it be incorrect to enter the tax withheld amount into box 16 on the Turbotax form? I'm not really sure what the box 16 is used for.
Are you sure you have a 1099R?
Box 14 is the amount of State Tax Withheld.
Box 15 is the State ID for the issuer. If this is blank, fill in the id number located in the Payer's TIN just below their address in the top left corner.
Box 16 is the amount of distribution. This must be filled in and is the same number that appears in Box 1.
If an amount is in box 14, you MUST have box 15 and 16 filled in.
If there is no amount in box 14, leave box 14, 15, and 16 empty. Do not enter a zero.
I have this same issue and can't figure out where to change the info on the turbotax website. I don't even have a box 16 on my 1099-R form. When I chatted with someone from TurboTax she was clueless about any of this and was no help at all. Do I have to "amend" my return and refile my federal and state even though they've already been accepted? Can I just print out my school district forms, add any info that is missing and mail them in?
The answer to all this I finally found out from TurboTax ix that you CANNOT electronically file your school tax with TurboTax. You must print it out and mail it in. And to be honest I have done that in the past with no issues. However, if you go to the OH tax website (Department of Taxation | Ohio.gov) and open an account you can file your school taxes online in 15 min and be done. It also allows you to see the current status on any tax returns you have filed already. In the future I will be doing this as it was very easy and quick. Hope this helps out as I know the frustration I had trying to get an answer...
I forgot to answer your question on refiling... and the answer is no. Any returns that have been accepted are fine. School tax returns are a different animal than state and federal, and do not impact their filing status.
