Office Deduction

My wife works from home but is not self-employed, can she write off office expense.
She works for Blue Cross and HIPPA LAW requires her to have a private space only she is allowed to work in.
She uses a spare bedroom we remodeled into an office for her to work in and it has a locking doorknob per the requirements.
Seems like there should be some special exemption for this seeing how that part of the house is no longer available to anyone except her for work.

No.

Sorry---W-2 employees cannot deduct job-related expenses on a federal return.  Job-related expenses were eliminated as a federal deduction for W-2 employees by the tax laws that changed for 2018 and beyond.  Your state tax laws might be different in AL, AR, CA, HI, MN, NY or PA.
