October 31st - unable to e-file doing 2023 return

Hello,

I applied for the extension and was approved for October 15th.

I am filing my 2023 return and have gotten to the final steps. It’s giving me the option to e-file but I am unable to submit the e-file at the very very last step due to “payment must be made by credit card” instead of deducting from my return. I owe nothing taxes wise state or federal. I have inputted a credit card but still cannot submit. Anyone else running into the same problem or know what’s going on?

No one in the user forum knows why you cannot e-file, nor can we fix the problem.   Not sure if customer support is working late tonight or not.   This is one of the hazards of waiting until the last minute.

To call TurboTax customer support

Customer support is available from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time Monday-Friday

If you are unable to e-file tonight then you will have to file by mail.   Print it, sign and date it ink, and mail it in.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
