form 1040 has empty lines.  how do i fill them in?

If you are unable to efile your 2016 income tax return, you will have to file by mail (paper-file). To do this, you would select Paper-File instead of Efile when you are in the File section after completing your return. Then print, sign, date and mail your tax return by April 18, 2017.
