New York state return rejected for missing document number - still no box to input 3 digit code

The document number is an 8 to 10 digit combination of numbers and letters on your license, permit or non-driver ID. Please review the following on where to locate this number on your driver's license or other state ID.

If you haven't done so please review the following steps on how to correct and resubmit your NYS return. 

We’re happy to report that this issue was resolved in a Turbo Tax update that was released on 02/13/2018.

Please log back into your Turbo Tax account and follow the "Fix It Now" interview path to correct and resubmit your NYS return.

If the “Fix This Return” does not help you, or you get stick on a loop, please follow the steps below.

  1. On the left-hand side menu click on “File
  2. On the next screen click “Continue
  3. On the next screen under Step 3 click “Start”
  4. On the screen titled “Let’s get ready to e-file” click “I want to e-file
  5. You will come up to a screen that ask for Primary Filers ID. Click “Continue”
  6. On the next screen input ID information including the Document Number. After you are done click “Continue”
  7. The next screen should ask the spouse ID click “Continue”
  8. On the next screen input ID information including the Document Number. After you are done click “Continue”
  9. On the next screen read the agreement form. Then click continue.
  10. On the “Let’s take a look at your returns before you file” screen click on continue
  11. On the next screen, ”It's time to sign and transmit your 2017 return” Fill out what is need then click the orange “Transmit my returns now” button

If you have followed these steps and are still unable to correct and submit your return, please do the following:

1. Delete ALL information entered for Driver's license ID or state ID fields.
2. Clear out cache and cookies in your web browser(s).
3. Re-enter all information for the driver's license or State ID. 
4. Go through the "Fix it Now" or the steps above to correct and resubmit your return.

If after trying, the steps do not correct the issue, you will need to mail in the return. Please review the following Turbo Tax FAQ on how to do so:
