Not necessarily. Audits do not simply happen because you mail your state tax return in instead of electronically filing them.
New York requires you to e-file if you meet all three of the following requirements:
- You use software to prepare your return
- Your software allows you to electronically file your return
- You have internet access
Since you are not able to electronically file using the software, you would qualify to mail your New York return in. See the following link for more details: NY Electronic filing requirement
