I have a new computer and cannot access my files on the old one.  All my previous TurboTax files are on it.

If you used desktop software downloaded/installed from a CD to your own computer, then the tax files are stored locally on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive.  They are not stored online.  If you cannot recover them due to a hard drive failure, etc. you can get a free transcript from the IRS or for a fee of $30 an actual copy of your tax return.

Yes, when using TurboTax desktop, your returns are saved on your hard drive.  They are not stored online by TurboTax.

If you don't have a printed copy you can go on the IRS website and view your tax records in your Individual Online Account to see what happened in 2023. This is easiest way to view, print or download your tax transcripts. If you don't have an online account you can set one up by clicking here.
