My wife filed she put her middle name even tho it is not on her ssc so now the IRS is saying takes 8 weeks to process what else can we do?

The IRS does not care about a middle name.  They only check the first 4 letters of the last name against SSA records.

8 weeks usually indicates some type of review.

The IRS says most refunds will be issued withing 21 days - some faster, some longer.

Each tax return is evaluated on it's own merits. There is no first-in-first-out. Two similar tax return submitted at the same time can have totally different processing times based on IRS criteria for examining tax returns that the IRS does not divulge.

Some returns will be held for ID verification or other verification. The IRS will send a letter if they require more information to process your tax return.

Thank you, they told her that their was a issue on the return that a name on it did not match the ssc and that is why it was being held another 6-8 weeks

They might be doing additional checks  if they suspect fraud or ID theft.   In most cases all they care about is the last name. All you can do is wait.
