Wait for the SSN so that you can claim her as a dependent. Even you have to request an extension and file after April 15, wait for the SSN. It is odd that you do not have it---usually you get it before you even leave the hospital. Was it a home birth or some other uncommon circumstances?
If you submitted the application at the hospital or birth center, you can typically expect to receive your child's social security number within two weeks. However, a Christmas Eve birth probably delays things a little due to holiday closures and slower mail.
If you did not apply yet, you should do so as soon as possible as you will need to have the social security number before you can file your return with your daughter listed as a dependent. It is best, as xmasbaby0 has said, to wait even if it means filing an extension. Otherwise, you would need to file an amended return and those are taking much longer than the once typical 8-12 weeks to be processed at this time.
To claim the dependent, you are required to have an SSN that is issued before the deadline for filing an on-time return. That means that you can't claim them at all until you receive the SSN. And even if you file in a hurry without the dependent, and try to amend later, you will not receive credit for the dependent unless the SSN is issued before April 15, 2025. And amended returns take up to 5 months to process to get that extra credit, while most original returns are processed in 3-4 weeks.
Best to wait.
