My refund amount is not what I was told it's way too short

Is is short by exactly $1400?   If so that could be one of the very common mixups with the 3rd EIP payment.  If you received that stimulus payment last year but said on your return that you did not receive it, the IRS reduced your refund.   Whatever the reason for the reduction in your refund, the IRS will be sending you a letter to explain.
