My refund i2 almost $5k lower than what was calculated

Check the IRS site first to see what the IRS says that they sent to you.   Does the IRS amount match what you expected, or did the IRS reduce your refund for back taxes, child support, or some other mistake you may have had on your return?   If they did, there may be a message on the refund site, and they will mail you a letter in several weeks.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2022 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

Or....did you have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund?

If the IRS sent the amount you expected, then you need to pursue the issue with the third party bank that handles refund processing if you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your refund.

What is Refund Processing Service?

Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, LLC  (SBTPG) is the bank that handles the Refund Processing Service when you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your refund. This option also has an additional charge from the bank that processes the transaction.

I paid the turbo tax fees and like I said my refund is approximately $5000 lower than what was calculated.

@jopjop2 Check the IRS refund site and see how much the IRS says they sent for your refund.   Does the amount the IRS say they sent match line 35a of your Form 1040?   Or did the IRS send you less?
