As long as your SSN is correct, you should be able to file your return with this W-2.
The IRS uses SSNs and Payer EINs to manage and process supporting tax forms such as W-2s and 1099s. Spelling errors with your name would only create an issue when you e-file your return.
So my first letter in my last name wasn't capitalized unfollowing all I want to do my signature and of course I do the capitalization of the first letter so they said it doesn't match I seen it it was a small letter so I did a small letter and it went through but they gave me static when trying to e-file, so does that mean I can't e-file I have to do "mailing"?
Well mine is not okay. I filed with turbotax & my employer spelled my name wrong & now I have a letter from the IRS asking me to contact them but they never answer, a hold on my social security card bc there's a security breach & without my social security card I can't get my unemployment. I am every shade of frustrated. Please help me.

So if my name is misspelled(or backwards) on my w-2 I can’t e-file?
Yes, you should immediately ask your employer for a corrected W-2 and if you are still employed there, you should complete a new W-4 to ensure the correction is permanent.
You can get a blank W-4 form to complete and return to your employer at Form W-4.
Hello, my last name is misspelled and I asked my employees for a corrected w-2 and they have not provide it yet, should I e-file with the name as is in my w-2 or should I correct it on turbo tax w-2 my last name before e-filing?
No, you should wait for your employer to provide you with a corrected W-2. You should also update your W-4 Form if your name is not correct. Your employer will have Form W-4 that you can complete and return to your employer. If you do not receive your corrected W-2 in time to file you may file an extension. TurboTax will allow you to file your extension. Search for Form 4868 in TurboTax and follow the screen prompts to file your request for an extension.
