My husband did not work last year at all, no wages. I thought I could claim him. Can I take him off or leave him on?

A spouse can never be claimed as a dependent.  When you are married you would want to file as Married Filing Jointly even if one spouse has little or no income.  You receive the highest standard deduction of $12,700 and you each receive a personal exemption of $4,050
