Never had anything like this before, so hoping someone can help.
We have foreign accounts with combined balances high enough to require filing form 8938. Every year, we enter them in the section, now Called 'other investment income' which includes 1099-OID and foreign financial accounts. We have about a dozen accounts in 2 other countries.
The basic account information pulled over from last year, with institution names, addresses, account numbers, so all good, all we had to do was update the max. account values and a couple of other pieces of info. for the year 2025. After entering all the info, I went back to 'revisit' the section, but everything I had entered was gone. Zero accounts, zero info. Worst part is I can't seem to find a way to get any of the info. back. Support says I cannot revert my return to the time before I entered the new info, and now I have to type in all the account info. from scratch....account numbers, addresses...everything. And I cannot 'clear' my return, which might actually be faster, because I've already paid the fee.
Is it possible there is no other way to do this. Seems ridiculous that this info. could be deleted. I have verified and all other info. from my return I've put in seems to be there - W2/wage info, 1099s, etc. It would be great if anyone knows how I might be able to retrieve the info that was already entered.
