If you did not receive any Unemployment in 2020, you do not have to report any income for Unemployment in 2020.
Any unemployment insurance benefits you receive are fully taxable income if you are required to file a tax return. The state will send you a 1099-G form at the end of the calendar year showing how much in benefits you received during the previous year. It also shows the amount of taxes, if any, that were withheld.
You will have to be patient and persistent if you are trying to reach any state unemployment office.
Yes, that is clear for me and I am patient and persistent, trying to reach department of UE. I called them more than 20 times during the last year at different days of the week and different hours. All I got, just automated reply that the volume of calls is too high, i never was able to reach out to real person working there. Also, never got any Email response or I never was allowed to schedule in person appointment.
I can see my claims online but all of them are in processing status, since they were filled, no approval or denial.
I believe that i should approved for me sooner or later but tax submittal deadline is coming now, what I suppose to do if it will be approved after i already submit my taxes?
If you did not receive any benefits in 2020, you do not have to file them on the 20 return- even if you finally get everything straightened out and receive back payments, you would report them in the year you received them so you will not have to report until 2021. Good luck!
