My control number on my W-2 is a single digit and it won’t let me move on unless it’s something else. Did I do something wrong? I’m so confused

On my W-2 it says my control number is 5, but it says that I need at least 2 digits

The IRS does not require you to use that control number.  Just leave it blank.

It's odd that you have a single digit for the control number, but the control number is not actually required on the W-2 (it's used to download the W-2).

If you have a copy of the W-2, you can type it in by hand. Please do so and leave the control number blank.
