My 1099-misc reporting farm rental crop insurance was entered in the farm section of the return but then showed up as a separate item of income. Seems like double taxation.

If you are looking at an income summary, the screen shows that you entered it as a 1099-MISC, then the income moves to whichever category it belongs to.  This is just a display to show what you have already entered, it has nothing to do with how your tax return is calculated or whether the income is taxable.
