If you are planning to take the itemized deduction instead of the standard deduction, you will need to contact the IRS at 800-829-1040 for help on how to get your 1098 corrected if the lender will not fix it.

If you are taking the standard deduction, then it will not make any difference on your return, so there is no need to do anything.
