Moving states while abroad

Hello,

I currently live in Pennsylvania and have live there for the entirety of 2022 so far. However, I am planning on moving to another state in 2023. The problem I am facing is that I will be abroad during most of December and January, meaning that I will technically not be living in another state, physically, until the end of January.

Does this mean that I will have to file 2 state tax returns in 2024? one for Pennsylvania and one for the new state i live in?

    Hello idominguez2710!

You only have to file a state return if you earned money in that state or are a resident of the state. Therefore, if you did not do with of the two, you will not need to file a return in that state.

    I hope this helps!
