We only made about 6,000 more this year.

Why is my sales taxes credit less than the previous year?

Most likely the 2016 motorcycle purchase gave you an increased sales tax deduction that year.

Which state? Some lowered their sales tax rates in 2017. And did you have any one time purchases in 2016 (such as a vehicle) that did not repeat in 2017?
