mortgage interest with schedule c

Hello,

What is the correct way to enter your mortgage interest amount when you have a Schedule C with home office expense and are not itemizing?

Enter the mortgage interest expense as part of the Home Office entries in the Schedule C section of your return.  The appropriate portion of mortgage interest will be claimed as part of Schedule C with the remaining portion automatically carried to Schedule A.

If you do not enter any other Schedule A deductions, then that personal portion will just go unreported on your return since you are claiming the standard deduction.

The same thing applies for property tax paid for your home as well.
