Minimum wage to file taxes
For Married Filing Jointly you must file a Federal Tax Return if you had income of:
- Both spouses under 65, at least $20,600
- Both spouses 65 or over, at least $23,000
- One spouse under 65, at least $21,800
If you are Married Filing Separately, you must file a Federal Tax Return if you had $3,950 or more in income.
Please note: Generally, the advantages of filing Jointly far outweigh what you will receive if you file Separately. This is true even if one spouse made very little.
