Where is this request for your Medicare ID coming from? TurboTax does not ask for your Medicare ID as a requirement for filing your federal or state taxes.

If anyone other than a hospital, physician's office, or other healthcare provider has asked for your Medicare ID, you may have been targeted by a medical identity theft scam. For more information, please refer to the resources at: https://oig.hhs.gov/fraud/medical-id-theft/

Medicare.gov is a federal government website managed and paid for by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. It exists solely to assist the public with information about healthcare services funded by those government programs. It has no role in the filing or processing of filing your income tax returns.

You do need to put your Federal ID# showing you have medical insurance. For us, we had private insurance for 7 months, then went on Medicare for the remainder of the year.
